New Zealand native Steven Alker won the TimberTech Championship at The Old Course at Broken Sound on Sunday with the kind of superlative golf he has displayed since turning 50 in late July.
Prior to Sunday's championship, on Thursday, it was the Founders of ORCA Golf and playing partner's turn to play in the ProAm which supports over 26 charities and Boca Raton Regional Hospital Foundation.
"What a day! Definitely one for the next book", said Erica Bennett, Founder and Designer. It was her first PGA Tour ProAm and the team was excited to have drawn Professional Tour player Steve Flesch. Others in the foursome had been involved in several other such tournaments so, thankfully, there was enough experience in the group. Steve was a delight and he treated the players to his phenomenal short game skills! Whilst the team together had some brilliant shots, of note was Erica's tee shot on the 18th hole which was a whopping 268 yards! And yes, she was just a bit over the green on her approach shot but had a cip in for eagle. Deborah contributed an eagle aided by some beautiful shots.
A little rain, a few great shots and a lifetime memory - perfect! The team shot 60, the winner shot 51, but everyone contributed to the score and had a blast!
